A Telecom Engineer with a Comedy Act Joins CI Works!

Brian Longwell of Special Projects Group
Brian Longwell of Special Projects Group, Inc.

CI Works would like to welcome a new member to our community of small businesses and makers – Brian Longwell of Special Projects Group – a lifelong telecom engineer with a comedy act.

Formerly an employee of Bell Labs, Brian left and started his own company (Special Projects Group) focused on smaller telecom projects that the large companies didn't want to focus on. Over the years, Special Projects Group took on projects for Lucent, Cisco, and numerous other smaller companies. Now, the company is just Brian and he does a few application specific designs for a few customers. Most of his time is spent arranging for the manufacture of these designs to meet customer orders.

Brian's specific background is electrical engineering and he is proficient in the design of analog and digital circuits. Bonus – he can write the software needed for any embedded microcontrollers. He leverages subcontractors needed to take the design to a manufactured product.

We had the chance to ask Brian a few questions about his new start inside the CI Works walls. Read below to learn more!

What is something you've accomplished in the last few years that you are most proud of?

That I have a comedy act that keeps getting better.

What is something you want other tenants at CI Works to know about you and your business?

I can design almost anything electronic. Also, my comedy is that I'm a fake motivational speaker. It works well for corporate functions and some comedy clubs.

Brian is open to chatting with other businesses at CI Works who may want to collaborate or just get to know his business. Feel free to contact him using the information below.
