CI Works would like to welcome a new member to our community of small businesses and makers – Matt Walsh.
Matt Walsh will be using CI Works as his new "home" office. Matt works for a startup software company, Cordiance, that is completely remote. After working out of his home for the past 4 years, Matt decided he needed a separate workspace.
Matt is an Amesbury resident who graduated from the New England School of Law in Boston, MA in 1995. He has focused on indirect tax (sales tax, value added tax) and compliance issues and government relations for the past 23 years. Before Cordiance, Matt worked at KPMG in Boston and Sovos (formerly known as Taxware).
Outside of work, Matt loves to ski in the winter and has been a ski patroller at Gunstock Mountain, NH for the past 24 years. In the summer, he enjoys riding his bike. This year will be his 14th year riding in the Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
We had the chance to ask Matt a few questions about his new start inside the CI Works walls. Read below to learn more!
How do you think being located at CI Works will help you to grow your business?
Being located at CI Works will allow me to separate a distinct workspace outside of my home, provide better focus, and eliminate distractions without a horrible commute. It will also allow me to be more engaged in the Amesbury business and social community.
What is something you've accomplished in the last few years that you are most proud of?
Getting both kids through college without them incurring any student loan debt.
What is something you want other tenants at CI Works to know about you and your business?
While in law school I took one tax class, hated it, and thought I would never focus on tax law. I have now been focused on tax for 23 years. Indirect tax is a little known and often-not-thought-about challenge for businesses of all sizes. Our company’s aim is to help businesses to reduce the burden of that challenge utilizing technology, robotic process automation, and simplifying the ongoing maintenance of tax systems. We also help educate on the traps and obligations a business has in dealing with this often-forgotten area of tax.
